Lara Croft Brings Back Fun to Co-op

Did you know that the Tomb Raider franchise branched out to Lara Croftᵀᴹ?

Currently, you can play Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Lara Croft GO, on platforms, and Lara Croft Relic Run, on the mobile.

In this article, however, we are taking a look at the Lara Croft co-op games which are respectively Guardian of Light and Temple of Osiris.

The first step towards branching out was Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which features two playable characters – Lara Croft herself, and Totec, an ancient Mayan warrior. Given the attempt for multiplayer in 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot, it only solidified the fact that Tomb Raider is not made for such a function. Nonetheless, as the industry’s demands grow, the developer team took a step back to view their mistakes, and tried another approach. One that actually proved much more successful. And fun.

The Lara Croft games, feature co-op, even though you could play it in singleplayer, too, and keep what Tomb Raider is all about – puzzles, exploration, challenges, platforming. Retaining all that, the game adds the possibility to play with a friend from a third person isometric perspective which lets you plan out your next move!

The games also feature a special achievement system, which makes replay-ability much more fun. You can gather gems lying around throughout the levels, either on the ground or in difficult to reach places, in order to reach a specific score and get some nice rewards, like better weapons or outfits. You get to hunt for secret, which are well hidden in the environment, or require you to solve an extra puzzle on the side in order to gain access to it!

The most interesting part adding to the replay-ability is that the puzzles change if you are adventuring solo or with a partner. Being a solo adventurer is easy, but synergizing with another takes skill, and a well-timed jump in order to move forward. Speaking for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light which features 2 player co-op, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris features a 4 player co-op. Every single character in each of the games has a specific ability which contributes to the teamwork!

If you haven’t played the games already, check out the gameplay video and hop in the adventure!
